Tutoring with a difference

I feel very passionate about providing learning opportunities for all the children I teach. My ability to develop an organised, positive learning environment means I am prepared to identify and respond to individual needs, assisting the children to expand their own self-confidence thereby providing a sound foundation for learning.

Utilising my strengths in literacy, numeracy and music (I am talented with both guitar and keyboard) I love incorporating music and a multi-sensory approach in the teaching of reading. I am very familiar with Jolly Phonics and the Magic Caterpillar - techniques which I successfully integrate with traditional teaching methods. The New Zealand Maths Numeracy Project outlines a comprehensive system for teaching Maths. This method has been integrated into my class structure to complement the current school curriculum.

As a parent myself I understand the importance of feedback regarding our children's development. Every lesson will reveal something unique about your child's learning progress which I will relay to you during a brief interview following each session. I will also offer supportive strategies which you can employ at home with your children to complement their learning experience.
